Best PS4 games to watch out for in 2014

COD Gostes

Here is the ultimate list of the ten best PS4 games to watch out for in 2014
1. Killzone: Shadow Fall

Killzone Shadow Fall is a hardcore multiplayer game that could have FPS-enthusiasts salivating. This is THE big blockbuster game that everyone's been waiting for. But don't get too excited, because if you gauge the game in terms of next-gen interactive entertainment, it falls short. The game though showy and stylish, is pretty difficult to engage with, thanks to confusing signposting, unnecessarily fiddly controls, and a storyline that's rather forgettable. But that won't stop gamers from enjoying the gun-slinging, action-packed game. Try your best to ignore the weak plot that has been poorly structured and conjured up.

2. Watch Dogs

Ubisoft's tried and tested concept of invading people's privacy without their knowledge is just getting better and better with each passing game. With a simple press of a Smartphone button, gamers can enjoy tons of control over the open-world city. Among the many things you can do are halt runaway trains and leap aboard them, hack someone's bank account while they're right in front of you, and trigger security cameras to surveil at will. The game has already been announced for XBOX 360, PS3 and possibly for the Wii U. Hopefully however, the PS4 version will be faster to load and prettier to look at.

3. Resogun

Resogun is a great game that makes reviewing a blast. A fantastic amalgamation of engrossing dynamics and simple pick-up-and-play controls, the game is easy to get the hang of and very very addictive. You might not want to get out and interact with the world, so consider yourselves warned. If you think it's a bit too retro for your liking, its smooth, sharp visuals will make you change your mind for sure. The level of control is tactile and just as responsive as any other next-gen game. The only thing is, that you'll be left wishing that it had more levels.

4. Battlefield 4

The level of detail in Battlefield 4, right from its particle animations and dynamic lighting, to the game micro and macro-scale destruction rendering will completely blow your mind. It'll leave you salivating and wanting more.

5. DriveClub

DriveClub has apparently been in the making for the last 10 years and it has some pretty amazing levels of details to show for it. And looks are not all that matter here where DriveClub is considered. The game is loaded with some other cool stuff as well. Along with real-time multiplayer, the game dabbles in asymmetrical competition and Sony's massive new social focus. Through this swanky new feature, you can play in groups, like squad-based first-person shooters, set challenges and reap rewards. This game will truly hit the spot if Sony manage to nail the social skin.

6. Fifa 14

EA Sport's new Ignite is designed to help Fifa up the ante on game delivery several notches higher than what gamers already expect. With this year's new Fifa game, you can expect new ball physics and players that are more accurate in their skills and more intelligent too. This is great news to gamers and football enthusiasts everywhere.

7. inFAMOUS: Second Son

The PS4-only graphical update on Suck Punch's PlayStation-exclusive franchise not only looks amazing but seems a tad 'inspired' when it comes to the storyline. Watch Dog's delights have long since surpassed the world of security cameras and the culture of fear. That means all that was displayed was the cut-scene slickness. But you can't argue with the fact that 'everyday superheroes in a far from super world' will still get gamers hooked, even though Crackdown, Prototype, and two Infamouses have pretty much worn out that road.

Despite its next-gen exterior, PS4's Knack seems like a game that was made a decade ago. This could mean great news for retro game lovers, but really bad news for next-gen lovers. The appeal is in the eye of the beholder. Many will view it is as the enjoyable slice of the gaming pie that keeps gamer entertained, but doesn't amaze or surprise. The fusion of Pixar-style animation and gaming interested many people to begin with, but the one-note action and the script leaves much to be desired. Knack might lose its edge with Nintendo's Super Mario 3D World. But either way, Knack is a pretty decent game that has a quite a big weight on its dainty little shoulders. The character in Knack may be able to brave the strain, but the game itself might need a little helping hand.

9. Call of Duty: Ghosts
If you weren't surprised by the fact that Activision and Infinity Ward weren't working on Modern Warfare 4, a less surprising fact is that - CoD: Ghosts is heading to PS4. Gamers can look forward to the usual mix of shooty fun times multiplayer and cinematic single player (including Colin the Ghost Dog. PS4 owners might get DLC content after their rivals at Xbox One .

10. Need for Speed: Rivals

There's no stopping the NFS franchise. The last instalment 'Most Wanted' knocked it out of the ballpark and now Criterion Games' latest cops and robbers racing franchise is here for all to revel in. What's noteworthy is the pretty excellent Wii U retooling, which displays the developers' ability to get the biggest bang for buck out of whichever tech is available. This can be seen in the cloud and online capabilities of the next-gen system, which are truly pushing persistent worlds. The Rivals' AllDrive tech means that co-operative and competitive multiplayer and single-player operate together in a single universe. Like with every other NFS franchise, this one too is eagerly awaited.

List of 10 Best Ultrabook to buy in 2014

Which are the best ultrabooks to buy in 2014? Upupu takes a look at the new generation of laptops set to be big news this year...

1. Acer Aspire S7

Acer Aspire S7

The new 2014 version of the striking Aspire S7 is a wonder of design and premium specifications, with a strong aluminium and Gorilla Glass 2 frame, snappy keyboard (with fancy electroluminescent lighting) and an incredible-looking touch 13.3-inch QHD (that’s 2,560 x 1,440) display just waiting for Ultra HD content to become available to watch on the move. At just 12.9mm thick, it’s the thinnest Ultrabook on the market, while the dual-torque hinge enables you to fold it flat. The whole thing is rounded off by an impressive spec sheet that includes Core i5 or i7 processors and up to 8GB of RAM.

Price: Tsh 2,500,000 | Acer

2. Sony Vaio Duo 13

Sony Vaio Duo 13
The Vaio Duo is so called because it has a little trick up its sleeve – it’s a hybrid Ultrabook with a keyboard that slides under the screen so you can use it as a tablet. It’s an alternative to the 360-degree hinge of an Ultrabook like the Lenovo Yoga. When it first appeared on the scene, it was borderline as to whether we could recommend it because of the price. Now that the price has dropped, it’s a far better buy, while the hardware is terrific. It’s a supreme portable device for those who need to present or demo while on the move but who also need the power and reliability of a traditional clamshell laptop.

Price: Tsh 2,000,000 | Sony
3. Samsung Series 7 Ultra

Samsung Series 7 Ultra

This mid-range Ultrabook (some would say it’s low-end in the Ultrabook world) hits a terrific price point. The Intel Core i5-powered unit also has a lovely little trick up its sleeve, with a dedicated AMD Radeon HD 8500M graphics chip. This is a laptop with some real graphic clout, and the Full HD display is driven with ease. It is a little heavier than almost all of its rivals here at 1.6kg but, hey, you need to spend a whack more to shed some of those grams. The best thing about the Series 7 Ultra though? You still get the Ultrabook look and great performance for a price that won’t get you restrained by your bank manager.

4. Samsung ATIV Book 9 Plus

Samsung ATIV Book 9 Plus

Another Ultrabook focusing on high design, the strangely-monikered ATIV Book 9 Plus only loses marks for its high price and the included bloatware. The chassis hasn’t change much compared to the previous model, but this really doesn’t matter. It is incredible, especially with the excellent build quality we’ve come to expect from Samsung. We loved using it, carrying it (it’s less than 1.4kg) and showing the retina display-beating 3,200 x 1,800 display off to people. It’s also extremely thin at less than 14mm. The first of the super-HD resolution Ultrabooks, it hasn’t lost any of its shine. However, the price tag might convince you otherwise.

Price: Tsh 3,600,000 | Samsung

5. Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro

Lenovo yoga 2

Lenovo’s Yoga line-up takes the Ultrabook concept and runs with it – forming a 13.3-inch laptop-tablet hybrid that simply demands your attention. The design is striking - the Yoga 2 can be folded into a tablet mode, a tent mode for standing up and finally a standard laptop clamshell. Central to this is a high resolution QHD+ (3,200 x 1,800) display that stuns and Windows 8.1 for a decent desktop and tablet experience. Latest-generation Intel Core processors are also fitted as standard. The only downside is that its battery life isn’t that great, but this is still a complete winner of a laptop.

Price:Tsh 3,500,000 | Lenovo

6. Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch
Some may believe the ThinkPad is a design classic, but even if you don’t you have to admire the longevity of this line-up of tough corporate notebooks. This 14-inch touchscreen w clocks in around the 20mm mark and follows on from the original 2012 X1 Carbon version of this workhorse laptop. Of course, everything has been updated, and you now get Windows 8 as standard. Performance is key to the X1 Carbon’s appeal, as is the 1.5kg weight – remarkable for such a tough notebook. The one downer is the price – you’ll need to be travelling a lot for work to justify its purchase.

Price: Tsh 4,500,000 | Lenovo

7. Dell XPS 13

Dell XPS 13
You might be thinking this laptop has been around for a while – you’d be wrong. While the chassis is similar to the older model, it’s an all-new unit inside. You get Intel Core processors of varying types (all from Intel’s latest range), at least 8GB of RAM and a responsive, tactile keyboard which is great for typing long-form documents. Then there’s the Full HD 1080p 13-inch touchscreen to work alongside the included Windows 8.1. While the XPS 13 isn’t the most stunning-looking of all the Ultrabooks, it’s still brilliantly thin and light and, for us, is one of our favourite laptops available today.

Price: 2,300,000 | Dell

8. Asus Zenbook UX301

The Zenbook was the original Ultrabook, trotted out at every opportunity to promote Intel’s new brand. This 13.3-inch latest-generation version is known as the Zenbook Infinity in some territories and the rather dull UX301 in the UK. This 1.38kg marvel not only has a wonderful Full HD 1080p touchscreen display, but there’s also an expensive option to have a whopping 2,560 x 1,440 WQHD version, too. You also get a choice of latest-generation Intel Core i5 and i7 processors, up to 8GB of memory and a scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass lid. The metallic look and feel of the original Zenbook has also been updated, with a silky smooth ceramic glass finish around the keyboard, sides and underside. You do pay for the high class experience, of course, but what an experience it is.

Price: Tsh 3,900,000 | Asus

9. Acer S3

Acer S3
This Ultrabook from Acer has been refreshed borrowing a few design features from its older brother, the Aspire S7. This lightweight machine now sports a 1,366 x 768 HD touch screen that can swivel up to 180 degrees with the added bonus of a Nvidia's GeForce 735M graphics card. The power has also been bulked up with an Intel Haswell processor and improved battery life. This should rectify some previous S3 faults and prove a viable competitor for other sub £1000 Ultrabooks.

Price: 2,200,000 | Acer

10. Asus Vivobook s400

Asus Vivobook s400
Stylish and slim, this Ultrabook packs some strong specs, while keeping the weight below two kilos to make sure it slips easily into your bag. Front and centre is a 14-inch HD touchscreen, while everything is powered by an Intel Core i5 processor. To ensure the maximum amount of storage, yet stil keeping it running quick, Asus has paired a 500GB HDD with a 24GB SSD cache drive. The battery lasts around six hours, which, while not top-of-the-line, should be sufficient to get you through a working day.

Price: Tsh 1,900,000 | Asus
