18-year-old Teenager Dies While Unplugging His Phone At Internet Cafe

The internet cafe where the incident took placeIn an unfortunate incident, an 18-year-old teenager from China met with an untimely death while unplugging his charging mobile phone from a computer at an internet cafe.
This incident took place in Wuhan, China. Xiong Xuan was a regular internet user at the local cafe and he worked as a factory worker at a garment factory, according to his brother Xiong Feng.
This incident took place last week on April 15 when Xiong visited the internet cafe after finishing his shift at work. His elder brother Feng was also present at the scene.
Feng said: “He let out a shout when he pulled on the cable and then his foot made contact with the steel legs of the table.”
Feng told the local reporters that his brother was seated at his usual seat and after being done with his computer work, he reached to unplug the charging cable when this incident took place.
The elder brother also recalls that his brother started foaming at the mouth and fainted. Sadly, nobody at the internet cafe came to help him. “He was obviously hurt, but none of the staff helped,” he told local reporters.
Later Feng called his uncle and took his unconscious brother to nearby Panlongcheng People’s Hospital.
Xiong Xuan was pronounced dead after 20 minutes by the doctors who called it an electrical injury.
For now, the license of the internet cafe has been suspended and investigations are underway.

Usage of Tor Browser To Access Facebook Crosses 1 Million Mark

Facebook has announced that the number of people who use Tor browser to access the world’s largest social media site, Facebook, has crossed the one million mark this month in April for the first time in the history.
Tor, also known as the ‘Onion Router’, is known for providing anonymity over the internet world while surfing a website. This network technology is designed to boost the privacy of a web user by encrypting and randomly routing Internet connections via a worldwide network of volunteer relays. It makes harder for individual web connections to be traced back to a particular user.Tor browser facebookEarlier, there was a little technical-some problem to connect Facebook through the Tor access browser. Owing to that, Facebook created a dedicated onion address for Tor access back in October 2014. The creation of the dedicated Onion address was aimed at making it easier for users to connect via Tor.
This address also helped in flagging network routes traffic by site security infrastructure.
Some users like to use Tor because of different security and privacy reasons and identification of the physical location is one of the major reasons for the same. Tor’s routing system via a network of relays disguises the user’s physical location also cloaking that location data from Facebook.
On the other hand, Tor has also confirmed this number. However, to maintain privacy, here is an advice from Tor:
"When using Facebook website over Tor, Tor Browser is in charge of that data, so it is anonymous. Of course, someone may post a status update saying that they are at some restaurant, for instance, and that would de-anonymize them."

Microsoft Is Hiring Linux Folks For A Secret Open Source Unit

microsoft loves linux azure cloudOver the course of past few months, we have seen something unusual happening at Microsoft. The company, whose former CEO once labelled Linux as a cancer, is now embracing more Linux everyday.
Another report of the same nature comes from the house of The Register. The website reports that Microsoft is recruiting some penguinistas for building a unit that will sell open source wares on Azure Cloud.
Microsoft recruiters have been contacting the employees of different Linux firms and interviewing for them some “open source practice”. More specifically, Redmond is looking for Linux folks with knowledge in Linux, Docker, Ansible, and Chef.
One reader, also an employee at a well-known Linux firm, told The Register that he took part in an interview.
He said that Microsoft interviewer told him that the company is very keen to make new relationships “as a result of a change of attitude towards open source technology”.
In another similar development, Microsoft recently hired Oracle’s Mr. Linux to head the open source projects.
The new strategy to bring open source technologies along with its Azure package is a part of Microsoft’s steps to avoid the losses to Linux and preserve the sales of Windows.

Remember How Blue Screen Of Death Crashed Bill Gates’ CES Keynote

How does it feel when a product of your own company doesn’t live up to your expectations failing to perform during a demonstration? Ask Bill Gates. He might’ve suppressed his anger behind a cheeky smile but theblue death did project its shadow upon him during a keynote for Windows Media Center in 2005.
I am always curious about reading such stories. Recently, I came to know about this video which is a compilation of on-stage tech fails during Microsoft’s 2005 CES Keynote. So, what exactly happened is that Bill Gates was delivering a demonstration of the Windows Media Center on Xbox. An air of embarrassment was ambient as the software froze a few times and Bill was only left with a smile on his face.
Microsoft customers are used to having buggy experiences on their machine with Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) and screen freeze situations. But this one is a little bit difficult to digest as the co-founder was left speechless. “And now nine people are being fired …. digitally fired” – Conan O’Brien used his humor skills to light up the situation as Gates was busy pressing the Ok button to start the slide show and it didn’t work.
Few seconds later, Gates gave it another try and guess what, it still didn’t work. “Is there anyone who’s gonna do anything or should we just move on,” said Conan. “Did I mention there’s gambling in this town, Las Vegas? Feel free to hit the tables. You can come back when we get this thing working.”
Later in the video, a presenter blames the internet connection for acting as a hurdle while talking about the recording feature of Windows Media Center. And finally, another presenter gets blown off the track due to the Blue Screen of Death or ‘blue death’ as I like to call it. All he can do now is to make you imagine that he is customizing his car using some tool. He says that there is no need to explain this thing as he received feedback, “that was kinda slow part of the demo”.

The Computer Hardware Chart: Can You Identify Your PC’s Parts?

I remember a funny incident that happened to me during my networking lab. I always knew network cable and jack by the name of RJ 45 but one day, when my friends began calling a jack, the male adapter, and port, the female adapter, I was surprised and equally amused.Later, when I came to know that straight cable and cross cables have different wire color coded configurations, I was again amused and surprised. So, I decided to open my old CPU box and take a took at all the ports, sockets, and slots.
Indeed, that was an awesome experience. So, today, I share with you a computer hardware chart which should be as interesting as an Indian Jones secret map for computer geeks.
If you have ever wondered about SATA or PATA, or the difference between an RJ-45 and RJ-11 port then this chart is for you (click to enlarge).the complete computer hardware chart

How A 17-Year-Old Impressed Zuckerberg to Become One of Facebook’s Youngest Employees

michael-sayman-zuckerberg -fossbytes
This is the story of Michael Sayman, one of Facebook’s youngest employees and how he landed his job. Getting a job at Facebook isn’t an easy task and our article on the toughest Facebook interview questions must have convinced you. You must possess some extraordinary talent to impress the nerdy brain of Mr. Zuckerberg and enter 1 Hacker Way, Menlo Park, California.
Telling his story in a Facebook TechPrep video, Michael Sayman tells how he was able to provide for his whole family during the recession when his family lost their house.
It was just five years back when this teenage app prodigy developed an interest in programming and decided to make his own website based on WordPress to share tips and tricks for his favorite game Disney’s Club Penguin.
It had been just about one year since Steve Jobs had announced the opening of iOS app store. So, he wanted to code a mobile app to make his website more popular. Sadly, he didn’t know anybody to teach him how to write an app. “It was a horrible process of learning, absolutely the worst. My school didn’t offer computer classes so that’s what I had to do,” he said.
So, he decided to take the ultimate route of internet and figured out how to make his app. For the Apple app store registration, he needed the $100 fee. As his family was financially struggling, his mom said if he couldn’t convert the app into sales, he would have to work at the family’s Peruvian chicken restaurant.
When he launched his app, those were the pretty early days with just 1,500 apps in the iOS Store. Eventually, his app rose to the top 10. The Hustle writes, “On the first day, Michael made $40, then $120, and $179. He made $5,000 the first month. On the first day, Michael made $40, then $120, and $179. He made $5,000 the first month.”
“After the first check arrived I was like, ‘Oh my gosh he’s earning more than me!” his mom, Cristina Sayman, said.
michael-sayman-tim-cook
At the same time, due to the recession, his family was struggling and his father lost his job. It was the time when he came up with the idea of ‘4 Snaps.’ In this game, players will take 4 pictures and ask the others to guess the word.
At the time he submitted his new app to the App Store in May 2013, he failed half of his final exams.
Michael publicized the app by paying Instagrammers about $40/day, something he was struggling to afford. But, his risk paid off and his app rose the #127 position in the App store World Games list, eventually to #1.
Technology companies like Facebook are known to keep an eye on such prodigies and same was the case with Michael. A Facebook recruiter reached out to him and offered him a summer internship. Along with his mother, he was taken to the Parse dev conference and given a tour of the world of Facebook.
Unsurprisingly, Michael said, “It was like a Disney World but for tech people.” Talking about Zuckerberg, he said, “He sits down on his desk, puts his feet up, has a soccer ball, and he’s dribbling it. And I’m like, ‘Is this real life right now?”
He got an internship at Facebook for $6,000 a month and today he’s a software developer at Facebook. Here are thr famous apps written by him:
  • Club Penguin Cheats app
  • 4 Snaps
  • Super Stickman Jump
  • PokeGear
  • Bubble Bounce
  • GuideZilla
  • The Impossible
  • Doodle Town
Know his story in his words in this video by TechPrep – Facebook’s latest initiative to teach programming:

Motorola Launches DROID Turbo 2 And It Just Won’t Break

motorola-unbreakable-phone-1
It doesn’t matter how advanced or smart your smartphone is if it gets shattered each time it falls! The flaw isn’t fixated to Apple iPhones, which if you remember would bend inside your pockets, but to almost all the phones (except vintage Nokia) that would easily break.
Motorola has, however, come up with its own hulk version of a smartphone that just won’t break. Motorola DROID Turbo 2 is the phone which won’t bother you with the unnecessary care-taking measures while using. The DROID Turbo 2 runs on the USP of a shatterproof display along with several upgrades and is a strong contender for the people’s choice. The Turbo2 display has a five-layered structure that absorb shocks keeping your smartphone’s screen intact, claims Motorola. Also, the display is little elastic rather than being rigid to incorporate up to a certain amount force.
The Motorola DROID Turnbo 2 has a 5.4-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440) display which comes with a four-year warranty against shattering and cracking.
After Motorola showcased its phone’s sturdiness against iPhone in an advertisement, the skeptics at CNN performed some of their own tests to check the claims of the perfect phone for the imperfect people.

Skarp: laser operated razor!!!!

Laser innovation has made considerable progress throughout the decades, having made jumps from sci-fi to science actuality inside of the medicinal field, assembling, and even as a “death star” laser beam to help open the universe’s secrets. In any case, the most recent laser-empowered idea is something the normal customer can all the more promptly appreciate. The Skarp Razor may turn into the first-ever individual shaving instrument controlled by a laser.

The normal method for removing hair for the most part includes sharp steel edges, a layer of shaving cream, and water to flush. In spite of the fact that this technique has worked for eras, the colleagues behind the Skarp Razor trust it’s conceivable that the same should be possible with laser operated razor . They guarantee that the Skarp can give close and smooth shaves without the scratches, cuts or skin bristliness that peril our customary shaving schedules.
111-500x333 Skarp: laser operated razor!
Models of the Skarp are developed out of 6061 aluminium with the natural look of shaving razors. Be that as it may, rather than an edge of steel, the Skarp utilizes a solitary fibre optic wielding a low-power, class 1 laser. Morgan Gustavsson, who is knowledgeable about the field of restorative and corrective lasers, expresses that his research has prompted the disclosure of a chromophore in human hair that can be trimmed/broken when hit with a specific wavelength of light. The Skarp Razor is intended to focus on those particular particles upon contact, securely uprooting the hair without a powerful laser yield or any enduring impacts.

Not at all like some different routines for laser hair removal, the Skarp Razor not warm up or soften hair, dispensing with blazes or hostile scents. It should work like a sharp edge, trimming any shade of hair against all skin sorts and colours, paying little heed to age, sexual orientation, or race. Furthermore, given how the Skarp could be prepared and fuelled by a solitary rechargeable AAA battery, it can significantly diminish the waste connected with dispensable razors, sharp edge cartridges, and shaving cream canisters. Skarp is the first of its kind laser operated razor .
111-500x333 Skarp: laser operated razor!
The Skarp Razor is upheld by a patent and given our current comprehension of therapeutic science and innovation, it appears to be very feasible for it to go from configuration to reality. Be that as it may, one likely obstacle will be execution. Keeping in mind the end goal to succeed in the eye of numerous benefactors, the Skarp Razor will need to trim hair with comparable pace and viability as of standard steel sharp edges, all with a laser that can securely work off a solitary AAA battery for up to a month of standard utilization. A few whiskers and stubble get pretty darn thick, and it’s yet to be perceived how well the Skarp handles such masculinity.
The Skarp Laser Razor is at present subsidizing on Kickstarter, having raised 265 percent of its US$160,000 objective in only four days, with an additional 23 days left to go. Those inspired by joining the positions of benefactors on this task can vow $159 for a solitary Skarp Razor, which is wanted to retail for over $200.

ASUS Waveface Concept

The trend is already set for the werable technology in the market. One by one the top companies are putting forward there newly conceived models and prototypes to prove their worth and grasp in the field of technology. After the recent introduction of Apple iWatch, Moto 360 and LG G Watch we can formulate the fact that this trend is going to bring more candidates into the arena. ASUS has also stepped up on the platform with its Waveface Concept and produced the concept of its bracelet watchphone. Though the prototype is ready but it will not hit the market soon as it is very expensive and not so profitable at the current stage.
asus-waveface-300x257 ASUS Waveface Concept
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. and trading under that name, is a Taiwanese multinational computer hardware and electronics company based in Beitou District, Taipei, Taiwan. ASUS is the world’s fifth-largest PC vendor by 2013 unit sales after Lenovo, HP, Dell and Acer. ASUS appears in BusinessWeek’s “InfoTech 100” and “Asia’s Top 10 IT Companies” rankings, and it ranked first in the IT Hardware category of the 2008 Taiwan Top 10 Global Brands survey with a total brand value of $1.3 billion.  Asus has lived up to the expectation of its name with its WaveFace concept.  Waveface is in fact a series of concept devices, created by ASUS and including the Waveface Casa TV, the Waveface Light, a touch tablet and the Waveface Ultra watchphone. ASUS Waveface Ultra is a wearable cellphone concept that can be worn around the wrist, just like a bracelet. This device is a pretty trendy accessory and it uses a flexible OLED display, being also based on gesture control and touch interface. There’s also a cloud system supposed to work both with the watchphone and the tablet pictured below, that also features a flexible display. All of these devices, even the Casa TV, are able to access documents and all sorts of content via the platform setup by ASUS. A brilliant idea that we’ll hopefully see turned into reality, soon!
asus-waveface-300x257 ASUS Waveface Concept
The Waveface Casa is a large widescreen display that acts as both entertainment center and internet portal. When not in use, a flexible, decorative cover obscures most of the screen, only exposing small areas that display contextually-relevant information. Equipped with a touch-sensitive screen and backed by a soft, flexible material, the Waveface Light is an interface to the cloud that can be used in a conventional screen-keyboard configuration or as a flat, single-screen tablet. The Waveface Casa is a TV-like home computer machine, serving as an information terminal. Design-wise it is similar to Waveface LIght except for the fact that when it is opened, you can use it to watch video or handle more complex data. When closed, it would show only simple information like time and weather.
asus-waveface-300x257 ASUS Waveface Concept
The Waveface Ultra is the most portable of the lot. It has an iPhone like design, and can be used as a hybrid phone and a portable computing device. Interesting thing about this device is that thanks to its flexible OLED design you can wrap it around your wrist but still have a single surface when handheld.

SASA UNAWEZA KUPIGA SIMU KWA KUTUMIA WHATSAPP

WhatsApp voice call by user Pradnesh07 Well, WhatsApp Inc. is releasing new exciting updates in interval of every 2-3 months. Recently, the company released Web-Client feature, known as WhatsApp Web which is highly encouraged by users worldwide and is technically easiest way to use WhatsApp on Home PCs, rather than opting much slower Android Emulators.
Now, the company is slowly rolling out the much anticipated WhatsApp Voice Calling feature (only for Android users now).
Also Read: Android became first Smartphone OS ever to ship more than 1 billion devices.
The upgraded version of the app — v2.11.508 — alone won’t enable this feature on the handset.
Reddit user pradnesh07  claims (via gadgets.ndtv) users who are running the aforementioned combination of WhatsApp app version, Android OS version, and device make will not be able to activate the voice calling feature until they receive a call from someone else with the feature already activated – hinting at a slow, almost invite-based roll-out.
Even with feature enabled on the app on the phone, one cannot place the call until unless he/she receives a call from the person who has the feature enabled. User pradnesh07 claims that he wasn’t able to make calls himself; he got the calling feature activated after receiving a call from WhatsApp.
WhatApp coice call-user pradnesh07
The way the update is available to only limited users, we can infer that the company is still testing the feature. Also, the way UI is described in the screenshot, it needs more improvements.
The changes are as follows:
  • Introduction of “Call” tab , alongside Chats and Contacts tab.
  • The call screen include basic call features – disconnect, mute, loudspeaker mode and message access.
Although, the feature was awaited and is expected whenever out cell phones pops out a notification for WhatsApp update, but now, we’ll soon be having the feature enabled on our phones. The current update is available only for Android phones, we expect the later updates for iOS, Windows and Blackberry too.

That means you can watch youtube videos offline (Without internet connection). Google had already made the announcement about this feature 2 months ago, and now Google has finally started rolling out the offline viewing feature to users of its YouTube Android. But wait , there’s bad news for most of our readers: it’s only available on Android devices in India, Indonesia or the Philippines for now. Google, In it’s official blog , did not mention when this feature will be available worldwide but we can say that the wait is not going to be so long.
Offline mode was first announced by Google India representatives at the Android One global launch event earlier this year. They had promised a year-end time frame for the feature’s introduction.

How to watch Youtube videos offline ?

The question is how can we watch Youtube videos offline ? without internet connection ?
In countries like India and Indonesia, The internet speed is very bad if we compare to other countries so this new feature can be helpful to watch videos without buffering .
This feature allows youtube users to temporarily store videos offline to watch later during short periods no internet connectivity. For videos where this feature is available, users can choose to add the video for offline viewing by tapping on the offline icon located under the video frame.

To download videos users can simply tap on the offline icon (a down array symbol) that sits under the video frame and select the desired quality. The icon will be visible only against videos that have offline viewing enabled.

Facebook Is Making New Privacy Changes In 2015

Facebook announced it will update its terms of service as of Jan. 1, 2015. Facebook also is updating its cookies policy (new policy vs current policy); updating its policies to explain how it gets location information on users. The update features a new ‘Privacy Basics’ page that will provide information on how to control information. It will also give users extra powers to opt out of advertising and to understand how Facebook uses data collected on users The site said it was also testing out a ‘Buy’ button that allows users to purchase things without leaving Facebook. The changes will be put into place on January 1, 2015. Facebook said that it welcomed feedback on the new policies.
The new policies will also give more information on how data such as location, battery and signal strength — which is taken by mobile apps — are used by Facebook. The company says that location data helps serve relevant ads to users, and that taking information on battery and signal the app can make sure it works well. No settings will be changed by the update, which will instead provide extra information to users so that they can make the changes themselves.
“Protecting people’s information and providing meaningful privacy controls are at the core of everything we do, and we believe these announcements are an important step,” the company said.

5 Year Old Becomes Youngest Ever Microsoft Certified Professional

A five-year old boy from the UK has become the youngest person ever to pass Microsoft’s much acclaimed exam, earning him the accolade of being a Microsoft Certified Professional. Ayan Qureshi, who has set up his very own computer network at his home in Coventry, hopes one day to start a UK-based tech hub. This incredible youngster explained how although he found the exam a challenge, it was enjoyable. “There were multiple choice questions, drag and drop questions, hotspot questions and scenario-based questions,” he told the BBC Asian Network. He no doubt astounded the exam invigilators, who at first had concerns about his young age.
“The hardest challenge was explaining the language of the test to a five-year-old. But he seemed to pick it up and has a very good memory,” explained Ayan’s father Asim.
ayan qureshi
Ayan’s fascination with computers began with his father, who is an IT consultant. When he was just three-years old Ayan would play with his father’s computers, while Mr Qureshi would explain motherboards and hard drives to him.
“I’m very happy and very proud, I don’t want to see him set a world record every day. But I want him to do his best whatever he does in his life,” said Ayan’s mother.
Now six-years old, Ayan spends two hours a day studying the operating system of his computer lab and is planning to set up an IT hub to rival Silicon Valley. He plans to call it E-Valley. Little Ayan is certainly one to watch for the future.

VivoMini features a compact, lightweight 0.6 liter chassis that measures just 131 x 131 x 42 mm – giving it a footprint that is slightly bigger than a standard man’s wallet. This sleek design frees up precious desktop space, while its modern Zen-inspired concentric-circle finish is easy on the eye and blends in anywhere in the home or office.
VivoMini can be VESA-mounted on the back of a display too, allowing users to create their own custom All-in-One (AiO) PC for a tidy, clutter-free desk or workstation.
VivoMini is ideal for a wide range of business applications and home needs. Silent, energy-efficient computing
ASUS VivoMini is designed with the environment in mind, and delivers incredible energy efficiency thanks to an ultra-low power design that draws as little as 6.95W at idle — not much more than an LED light bulb. This lets users leave VivoMini on overnight to download software updates or perform file backups, all without racking up big electricity bills.
Asus VivoMini: Upper and Sideview.
VivoMini operates in remarkable silence thanks to optimized low-speed fan settings that keep noise levels down to just 18.5dB at idle, the same level as the sound made by falling leaves. And it doesn’t get much noisier at full load, either – at just 26.3dB, that’s quieter than a library and is 60% lower than the industry standard. The optimized fan also lowers operating temperatures for stable performance.
ASUS desktops are designed to ensure extreme reliability, extensive compatibility, and assured safety. VivoMini is subjected to a series of exacting quality and reliability tests. The PC is designed to cope with temperature extremes — from dry, icy subzero conditions, to hot and humid environments that exceed 60°C.
Making things easy with remote PC and cloud management software
VivoMini includes a rich suite of PC remote control and cloud management software. In commercial settings, the ASUS Remote Management Tool is a one-stop solution for routine maintenance and servicing, allowing remote updates to CPU, fan, or system settings in the BIOS. Real-time BIOS updates can also be done via USB or a hard disk.
