Meet the world’s first smartphone which is fully washable with soap

The Japanese are known to live longer than the average world population and cleanliness is one of the features which helps them stay fit and live long. Japanese are also cleanliness freaks so the Kyocera and KDDI’s new smartphone named Digno Rafre is just made for them. The Digno Rafre is world’s first Android smartphone that can be washed with soap.

Not only is Digno Rafre waterproof, it is also rated for hot water resistance at 43-degrees Celsius, which is not included in the usual smartphone IP certification ratings. The smartphone is IP58-rated and features a self-healing rear panel, which is similar to LG G Flex smartphones.

To protect the owner, the manufacturers have also made Digno Rafre shockproof (MIL-STD-810G). The display can be operated even with wet hands and is protected by Dragontrail X glass coating. The smartphone is available in 3 colours, Coral Pink, Cashmere White, and Marin Navy. KDDI and Kyocera indicated that the Digno Rafre will become available to buyers on December 11 in Japan priced at JPY 57,420 (roughly Rs. 32,300)

As for the specifications, the Rafre runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box and features a 5-inch TFT LCD display with HD (720×1280 pixels) resolution. It packs a 2GB RAM while the makers have divulged the processor details as of yet. The smartphone will come with a 16GB inbuild storage which can be further expanded upto 128GB with a microSD card slot.

Digno Rafre houses a 13-megapixel rear camera with CMOS sensors and is backed by a 3000mAh battery, which is rated to deliver 20 hours of VoLTE talk time. For connectivity, Digno Rafre will support 4G LTE connectivity, WiMAX plus VoLTE along with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, and USB 3.0.

The handset measures 71x141x10.1 mm and weighs 155 grams.
